Position Overview:

The Automotive Group at Constellium in Michigan is seeking a Process Engineering Intern to support various projects within the plant.

Role Scope:
  • Assist the Process Engineering team in completing critical projects.
  • Collaborate with Lean Managers to design process flows and equipment layouts.
  • Contribute to the development of a database for plant consumable tooling.
Key Responsibilities:

The Process Engineering Intern will work closely with Plant Process Engineers on significant projects, ensuring timely completion. The primary responsibilities include:
  • Utilizing AutoCAD to create facility layout drawings for production and support areas.
  • Conducting analyses and recommending enhancements to optimize process flow and spatial efficiency based on Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Assisting in evaluating ergonomics and safety measures within manufacturing operations.
  • Performing time studies on manufacturing equipment to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Auditing preventive maintenance procedures to assess their effectiveness using production data.
  • Conducting studies on consumable tooling and aiding in the documentation process for the tooling database.
  • Reviewing production work instructions to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Supporting quality audits and documentation for the TS system.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of at least two years of coursework in an Engineering Science major or concentration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and organized, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for equipment and process flow layout.
