Job Summary

The ESL Family Engagement Specialist will serve as a liaison between students, families, schools, and community resources to enhance school climates and support student success. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between student, home, school, and community resources to provide support and services to families.
  • Plan and implement activities to promote parent involvement and engagement in schools.
  • Work with professional personnel, students, and parents to provide information and resources to support student success.
  • Collaborate with administrators and school personnel to implement parent involvement programs and initiatives.
  • Meet with students and families to determine educational goals and needed family and school supports.
  • Connect families to intra-district resources and community agencies to provide support and services.
  • Support schools in tracking EL academic achievement, attendance, and drop-out rates.
  • Provide community resources and support to students and families.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance job performance.
  • Support division and school communication with families on a regular basis.
  • Make home visits as needed to support families and provide resources.
  • Assist in ESL program presentations, professional development sessions, and trainings as needed.
  • Coordinate tutors, mentors, and/or volunteers to support students.
  • Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Stay up-to-date on federal and state ESL guidelines.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Associate's Degree or successful completion of the ParaPro test.
  • 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of customer service experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
