Job Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Oversees, trains, evaluates, and provides leadership to Residential Staff.

 Ensures precise tracking of students present during shifts.

 Offers counseling and support to students in designated living areas regarding their attitudes, behaviors, and interpersonal relationships.

 Observes student activities within the residence and ensures adherence to appropriate conduct.

 Guides students and may assist in the upkeep and organization of living spaces.

 Equips students with essential skills for independent living and leadership.

 Encourages positive behaviors while holding students accountable for any negative actions.

 Maintains comprehensive shift logs, inputs data into the Center Information System and Student Records, and reports any unusual or critical incidents to supervisors.

 Collaborates with the Dorm Supervisor, Counselor, and other team members to deliver effective case management services to students.

 Functions as part of a team with other Independent Living Consultants assigned to a residence by fulfilling designated shift responsibilities and communicating relevant shift information effectively.

 Serves as an advisor to the Student Peer Court.

 Exemplifies appropriate behaviors, mentors students, and monitors both positive and negative actions through interventions.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 Fundamental understanding of management principles; demonstrated ability to lead and support a team.

 Proficient knowledge of behavior management strategies.

 Strong customer service aptitude; awareness and understanding of the needs of at-risk youth.

 Proven skills in problem-solving and decision-making.

 Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal.

 Capability to meet frequent deadlines and manage stressful situations while maintaining efficiency and composure.

 Competent in utilizing computer software such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 credit hours in social services or counseling disciplines.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

 Experience in a residential setting, such as a group home or college dormitory. Experience in Job Corps is advantageous.

 Must hold a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
