Chipton-Ross is seeking a Production Scheduler Specialist for a contract opportunity.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Scheduler Specialist will be tasked with orchestrating and coordinating all facets of production scheduling. This role demands the ability to lead planning initiatives and analyze data to establish the most cost-effective and efficient production timelines that can be successfully executed. Individuals in this position will be expected to manage projects and make informed decisions with minimal oversight. A focus on continuous process enhancement is essential to elevate key performance indicators such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF), backorder management, schedule adherence, and resource utilization. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication capabilities are crucial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring key performance metrics, including on-time delivery and maintaining appropriate safety stock levels.
  • Exhibiting excellent verbal and written communication skills for the preparation and presentation of planning reports and projects.
  • Assisting in the timely and precise planning of material requirements to support the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Planning, scheduling, and overseeing the movement of materials throughout the production cycle to ensure timely delivery.
  • Facilitating the coordination of new product introductions as required.
  • Providing management with insights to adjust schedules in response to design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential disruptions.
  • Managing multiple projects or issues concurrently, either by facilitating or leading with minimal supervision.
  • Employing creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information and address less clearly defined planning challenges.
  • Setting objectives, reviewing progress with supervisors throughout the year, and completing performance management documentation.
  • Implementing changes to material masters, product structures, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and routing processes as necessary.
  • Reassessing orders and requirements by analyzing demand trends, lead times, minimum order quantities, standard batch sizes, and safety stock levels.
  • Following up on open orders and partial shipments, expediting as necessary.
  • Collaborating effectively with external departments to resolve issues.
  • Identifying and proactively communicating inventory risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyzing root causes of stockouts and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation related to the operations planning function, including backlog reports, lead-time analyses, and production status updates.
  • Managing replenishment levels for applicable safety stocking programs.
  • Evaluating capacity requirements, consistently monitoring production readiness and material availability, and supporting activities related to MRP system maintenance.
  • Understanding and adhering to relevant company and departmental policies and procedures.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning and scheduling or a related field.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze them, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvements to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning principles, attention to detail, and robust analytical skills.
  • Compliance with corporate, site, and regulatory policies, practices, and guidelines.
  • Project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements for manufacturing.
  • OSHA safety compliance is mandatory.
  • Highly responsive to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborative approach to implementing improvements and cost-saving measures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.

EDUCATION:

Minimum of an accredited High School Diploma or GED.

WORK HOURS:

Full-Time; Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with potential for mandatory overtime.
