Position Summary
The Production Planning Specialist will play a crucial role in orchestrating and managing all facets of production scheduling. This position demands a proactive approach to lead planning initiatives and analyze data to establish the most cost-effective and efficient production timelines that can be successfully executed. At this level, the specialist will have the autonomy to lead projects and make informed decisions with minimal oversight. Continuous process enhancement will be a priority to improve key performance indicators such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF), backorder management, schedule adherence, and resource utilization. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee key performance metrics including on-time delivery and maintenance of safety stock levels for products and raw materials.
2. Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills for the preparation and presentation of planning reports and project updates.
3. Assist in the timely and precise planning of material requirements to support the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
4. Plan, schedule, and monitor the flow of materials through the production cycle to ensure timely delivery.
5. Collaborate on new product introductions as assigned.
6. Provide management with insights for rescheduling in response to design modifications, labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential disruptions.
7. Manage multiple projects or issues concurrently, facilitating or leading with minimal supervision.
8. Employ creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information and address less clearly defined planning challenges.
9. Set goals, review progress with supervisors throughout the year, and complete performance management documentation.
10. Implement changes to material master data, product structures, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and routing as necessary.
11. Reassess orders and requirements by analyzing demand trends, lead time variations, minimum order quantities, standard batch sizes, and safety stock levels.
12. Follow up on outstanding orders and partial shipments, expediting as necessary.
13. Collaborate effectively with external departments to resolve issues.
14. Identify and communicate potential inventory risks to relevant stakeholders and present findings during planning meetings.
15. Analyze root causes of stock shortages and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
16. Maintain knowledge of ISO/FDA, GMP, and other regulatory standards pertinent to diagnostics manufacturing.
17. Control all documentation related to the operations planning function, including backlog reports, lead-time analyses, shop floor orders, delivery performance metrics, and production status updates.
18. Manage replenishment levels for applicable safety stock programs.
19. Evaluate capacity requirements, continuously monitor production readiness and material availability, and support activities related to MRP system maintenance.
