Job Summary

The Federal Programs Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a sales strategy for all Federal Government agencies. This sales strategy includes planning and execution of unit, agency, facility sales activities, and leading all engagements. S/he will manage accounts and mentor, coach, and counsel assigned sales team members as required. S/he will coordinate with other service Sales Managers to grow the Safeguard sales enterprise. This role will work directly with key Federal Government stakeholders to determine program requirements, gaps in the program, develop future business opportunities, and promote Safeguard’s product lines and services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Analyzes opportunities and threats within the Federal Government market to capture the greatest potential revenue opportunities.
  • Manages, prioritizes, generates, and submits Request for Information (RFI) Request for Quotes (RFQ) Request for Proposals (RFP) packet submissions, as required to Federal Agencies.
  • Communicates regularly with Federal Agencies such as (Department of State, FBI, CIA, DIA, CBP, DHS, DHHS units to maintain knowledge of emerging medical requirements.
  • Oversees all activities within Federal Government sales. Manages sales unit budget, provides product samples, and sponsors and attends key events and tradeshows as required.
  • Maintains a travel schedule necessary to maintain key relationships, meet quarterly objectives, and project the Safeguard brand to the Federal Government.
  • Leads sales and key stakeholder engagements and recommends suggestions to Product Development, Product Marketing, and the Executive Leadership Team to improve revenue generation for the Federal Government customers served.
  • Maintains confidentiality of company data including new product information, marketing strategies, pricing information, sales, and other business proprietary information.
  • Analyzes Federal Government, DOD, and DHA policy trends and environmental conditions to advise organization leadership and influence strategic sales strategy.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, organizational management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience may substitute for this requirement.
  • At least 2 years of sales experience in the federal government sector is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within Special Operation Military Medicine Community and or with Military Foreign Area Officers.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in tactical medicine with Federal agencies to include the Intelligence Community.
  • Proven experience in routine engagements and briefings at Senior Executive Service, Director, or flag officer levels.
  • Strong understanding of policies related to the Embassy Health Services, Evacuation Medicine, NEO Policies, Joint Trauma System, and the Committee of Tactical Combat Casualty Care.
  • Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point capabilities. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.

Demonstrated ability to work creatively and independently and prioritize effectively to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Ability to meet designated deadlines is also a critical qualification. Well-developed analytical skills; excellent project management skills. Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Possess excellent planning, organization, analytical skills, and project management skills.


Physical Requirements

Performing the duties of this job regularly involves sitting, standing, walking. The duties also involve active hearing/listening, grasping, and reaching, as well as occasional lifting and carrying of product and supplies up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, the ability to adjust focus and color code.


Mental Requirements

This position requires the ability to: maintain an appropriate work pace; comprehend and lead strategic efforts; exercise logic and reasoning; organize, prioritize and strategize; read; compose written communication; communicate verbally; problem solve; make decisions; count and compute; analyze and interpret data; multi-task/re-direct; experience numerous interruptions; ability to focus in an open-office environment and work alone successfully. This position requires the ability to maintain the highest standards of professional maturity, patience, and emotional intelligence in difficult or stressful situations.


Other Requirements

This position requires travel approximately 50+% of the time. International travel may be required. Preference will be given to individuals who live near the Washington DC Metro area or near company headquarters in Charlotte, NC.


Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment will vary, as this is a field-based role with travel in public spaces including infrequent short duration work in outdoor spaces; Work around cadaver and live tissue training periodically.
