Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Federal Programs Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in crafting and executing a comprehensive sales strategy tailored for Federal Government entities. This strategy encompasses the planning and execution of sales initiatives across various units and agencies, while also spearheading all related engagements. The individual will oversee account management and provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to the sales team as necessary. Collaboration with other Sales Managers is essential to enhance the Safeguard sales portfolio. This position requires direct interaction with key stakeholders in the Federal Government to identify program needs, address gaps, explore future business prospects, and advocate for Safeguard's product offerings and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate opportunities and challenges within the Federal Government sector to maximize revenue potential.
  • Manage, prioritize, and submit Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotes (RFQ), and Requests for Proposals (RFP) to Federal Agencies as required.
  • Maintain regular communication with Federal Agencies, including various departments, to stay informed about emerging medical needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of Federal Government sales, including budget management, provision of product samples, and participation in key events and trade shows.
  • Develop a travel itinerary to foster key relationships, achieve quarterly goals, and promote the Safeguard brand within the Federal Government.
  • Lead sales initiatives and engage with key stakeholders, providing recommendations to Product Development, Product Marketing, and Executive Leadership to enhance revenue generation for Federal Government clients.
  • Safeguard sensitive company information, including new product details, marketing strategies, pricing, and other proprietary business data.
  • Analyze trends in Federal Government, DOD, and DHA policies to inform organizational leadership and shape strategic sales approaches.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, organizational management, or a related discipline is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • A minimum of 2 years of sales experience within the federal government sector is essential.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the Special Operation Military Medicine Community or with Military Foreign Area Officers is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in tactical medicine with Federal agencies, including the Intelligence Community, is necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with Senior Executive Service, Director, or flag officer levels.
  • A strong understanding of policies related to Embassy Health Services, Evacuation Medicine, NEO Policies, Joint Trauma System, and the Committee of Tactical Combat Casualty Care is crucial.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including web browsing, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. The ability to learn new software and systems is also necessary.

Competencies:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of urgency, initiative, and practical judgment, along with the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals. A commitment to skill development, effective leadership, and knowledge transfer through various training methods is essential. Proven teamwork and people management skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities, are critical. The candidate must be an effective communicator, comfortable interacting with a wide range of corporate executives, sales, marketing, engineering, operations, customers, and business partners in a professional manner. The ability to develop training contract business plans, conduct competitive analyses, and perform cost-benefit evaluations of contract requirements is necessary. Strong analytical and project management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, are vital.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This role involves regular sitting, standing, and walking, along with active listening, grasping, and reaching. Occasional lifting and carrying of products and supplies up to 50 lbs may be required. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental demands include maintaining an appropriate work pace, leading strategic initiatives, exercising logic and reasoning, organizing and prioritizing tasks, and effectively communicating both verbally and in writing. The ability to analyze and interpret data, multitask, and remain focused in a dynamic environment is essential. The candidate must demonstrate professionalism, patience, and emotional intelligence in challenging situations.

Travel Requirements:

This position necessitates travel approximately 50% of the time, which may include international travel.

Work Environment:

The work environment will vary, as this is a field-based role that involves travel in public spaces, including occasional outdoor work.
