Life Enrichment Coordinator

Full Time | Day Shift

Pay rate up to $28.14/hour; based on experience

Requirements for a Life Enrichment Coordinator:

  • AAS degree in Recreation/Occupational Therapy Assistant or healthcare field required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years' experience in a social or recreational program.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to work well with others.
  • Must have computer proficiency.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
  • Qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist/CTRS eligible preferred.

Responsibilities for a Life Enrichment Coordinator:

  • Maintains a caseload as assigned by the Director.
  • Supports the organization's cultural journey by taking a lead role as a Neighborhood Guide.
  • Supervises and conducts annual performance evaluations for assigned direct reports.
  • Assesses the strength, limitations and recreation and leisure interests of Members, patients, and residents.
  • Develops individualized plans of care with measurable goals integrated into interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Plans interventions appropriate to interest, needs and functional level of Member/patient.
  • Implements individual treatment plans that promote maximum functional level.
  • Observes behavioral changes and alters approaches to meet resident needs.
  • Evaluates programs and interventions to assure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting Member/patient needs.
  • Provides a diverse activities program including but not limited to social integration, intellectual, sensory stimulation, creative, physical, religious/spiritual competitive programs, and community outings for the neighborhood/units they are assigned to.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating community-wide events.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating Friendly Home and Linden Knoll special events.
  • Completes all required documentation (i.e. quarterly notes, MDSs and supportive documentation, reservations, quality tools) and requests in a timely, complete manner in compliance with Life Enrichment Department guidelines.
  • Documents in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate grammar, spelling and appropriate use of professional and medical language.
  • Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team including attendance at interdisciplinary care planning conferences.
  • Assists in development, implementation, and monitoring of Friendly Home Life Enrichment budget.
  • Empower and support Friendly Home staff to create a culture of person directed care through meaningful engagement.
  • Monitors and maintains supplies necessary for program implementation within the recreation budget.
  • Supervises volunteers and support staff providing clear direction and adequate support.
  • Adheres to professional standards and ethical guidelines pertaining to Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Keeps an attendance record/documentation of all Members visited on a 1-1 basis or in attendance at groups.
  • Covers weekend programs as scheduled and may assist in evening programs when needed.
  • Responsible for oversight of monthly calendar completion.
  • Helps transport Members to recreation programs when needed.
  • Makes posters, sign-up sheets and/or visits to keep Members informed of programs offered and to encourage their participation.
  • Participates in in-service education and safety programs. May attend selected meetings and workshops to improve job skills.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor or by Administration as directed.
  • Performs other tasks necessary for the effective operation of the Life Enrichment Team or the Friendly Home as assigned by the administrator.
