Job Description:
Staff Services Officer III
The Employee Support Coordinator (ESC) is selected and supervised by the Senior Director of Disability Infrastructure Support with the approval of the DDS Administrator. Work is performed under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

The Employee Support Coordinator is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating of special and administrative assignments and programs, including developing and implementing the agency’s Wellness Program; developing process to initiate New Employee Orientation; coordinating specific areas of contract workforce contract; and developing/maintaining procedures for procuring special Reasonable Accommodation requests, such as Sign Language Interpreters. May lead or supervise the work of others.

The ESC performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations. Some travel may be required. DDS employees perform all business functions for SSA, using the federal SSA network and equipment.

This position occasionally requires work during the weekends, holidays, and before or after normal business hours. Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12 security clearance is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Assists with recruiting and posting efforts, including conducting interview screenings; administering assessment tools; scheduling interviews; coordinating and conducting New Employee Orientations; conducting reference checks; making recommendations for hire to meet program goals; and working with supervisors to reduce turnover rates and increase retention rates.

Prepares management reports, analyses, correspondence and reviews and interprets proposed policy, legislation, and regulations related to turnover and retention.

Establishes standards for customer-focused communication and coordination within areas of responsibility and with all internal and external associates and customers.

Plans and coordinates agency Wellness Program activities as well as coordinates specific areas of Contract Workforce usage.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of agency programs, policies and procedures; of the methods, principles, and practices of the agency; and of office management and human resource administration.

Skill in coordinating activities; in the use of computers; and in critical thinking.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, other DDS, HHS, SSA employees and the public.

Ability to study and evaluate programs, policy, regulations, and propose recommendations; to interpret and apply agency policies and procedures; to analyze and solve work problems; to communicate effectively; and to supervise the work of others.
