GENERAL OVERVIEW:

As a key member of the Texas Department of Public Safety, you will engage in advanced psychological practices aimed at enhancing the well-being of agency personnel and their families. This role encompasses a wide range of psychological services, including assessments, counseling, program development, and crisis intervention, all conducted with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct psychological evaluations and assessments for various personnel, ensuring accurate interpretation of results.
  2. Design and implement training programs on critical topics such as stress management and employee motivation to foster a resilient workforce.
  3. Create training materials and contribute to best practice guidelines for employee support services.
  4. Provide confidential counseling services to agency employees and their families, including referrals for additional support when necessary.
  5. Facilitate debriefing sessions following critical incidents to support staff recovery.
  6. Act as a consultant for specialized projects requiring psychological expertise.
  7. Collaborate with management to address workplace challenges and coordinate fitness-for-duty evaluations as needed.
  8. Develop and oversee programs related to pre-employment psychological evaluations and wellness services.
  9. Participate in field visits to assess training effectiveness and provide feedback on mental health initiatives.
  10. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to agency policies regarding work hours and flexibility.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in critical incident responses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.

Experience: At least one year of direct psychological service experience, including crisis intervention and trauma counseling.

Licensure: Must hold a valid psychologist license from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to manage confidential information responsibly are required.
