Job Description:

Position Summary

The Director, Talent Acquisition plays a crucial role in shaping and driving our talent strategy. This key role will lead the charge in identifying and attracting talent to fuel our company's growth.

The Director, Talent Acquisition is responsible for leading the talent acquisition function. This individual will develop and implement the talent acquisition strategy and supporting technologies, while delivering innovative recruitment and sourcing strategies aligned with Veit's strategic plan. The Director, Talent Acquisition will work in collaboration with leadership to develop the talent strategy, manage the full recruitment cycle, and attract and build a robust pipeline of ideal candidates.

This role will develop and maintain KPIs and measurements that enhance our overall candidate experience, improving recruitment and hiring efficiency, and improving new hire success and retention. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team amid a recruiting transformation.

The ideal candidate is an experienced people leader with a proven track record in the Talent Acquisition field and demonstrates exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.

A Day in the Life

Talent Acquisition Strategy:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract and retain high-quality, diverse candidates.
  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring a seamless and positive candidate experience.
  • Implement innovative and effective sourcing strategies to identify and attract top-tier talent.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and create tailored recruitment plans.
  • Utilize a variety of recruitment methods, including job boards, social media, networking events, and employee referrals, to identify potential candidates.
  • Monitor and analyze recruitment metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of recruitment efforts, make data-driven decisions, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain program(s) to promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies, job criteria, interview questions, best practices, sourcing, and selection to comply with OFCCP and EEO/AA hiring practices.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs, partner with the Compensation and Benefits Manager to develop job description, if needed, and develop candidate profiles. Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on candidates, searches, hiring manager interactions and other recruiting activities to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies and initiatives to attract diverse candidates in different geographic markets. Serve as liaison with recruiting resources, unions, minority and female organizations, government entities and community organizations to build and maintain an active network and diverse workforce. Source candidates through various channels, including job boards, social media, digital campaigns, networking events, and employee referrals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the interview process, including scheduling interviews, collecting feedback from interviewers, and making hiring recommendations. Negotiate job offers and manage the offer process, including salary discussions, background checks, and employment contracts.
  • Build and maintain a talent pipeline for future hiring needs, proactively identifying and engaging with potential candidates.
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with external recruitment agencies and vendors to support recruitment efforts as needed. Monitor vendor expenses and ensure contracts are cost effective.
  • Manage Veit's summer internship program, including building strong relationships with universities and serving as a representative for Veit at career fairs, various on-campus events, and speaking engagements. Recruit qualified interns, coordinate mentor and manager partnerships, and collaborate closely with hiring managers to oversee intern projects. Conduct mid-term assessments and schedule events for interns and mentors. Provide and ensure a positive work experience.

Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing talent acquisition team.
  • Provide guidance to hiring managers on best practices in talent acquisition.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to ensure Veit remains a competitive employer.
  • Hire, train, develop and review all direct reports. Takes disciplinary action as necessary, on a timely basis, and in accordance with company policy.
  • Documents, plans, and delivers meaningful and timely performance reviews and motivates and recognizes employees timely.
  • Ensures new hires are properly trained and employees are cross trained within the department to support continuous employee development.
  • Ensures compliance with current Federal, State, and local regulations.

Candidate Experience and Employer Branding

  • Support and implement employer branding initiatives to enhance Veit's reputation as an employer of choice.
  • Partner with marketing to create compelling recruitment materials. Leverage social media and other channels to showcase the company culture and attract top talent.
  • Partner with the Hiring Manager to create an onboarding plan for all office hires. Partner with HR colleagues to onboard new hires and ensure a smooth transition into the organization.

HR Team Support

  • Lead and support HR key deliverables to include (but not limited to) employee events, system implementations/ enhancements, compliance audits, employee engagement, etc.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Create and facilitate training programs, presentations, and documented procedures to increase the knowledge, skills and abilities of employees and leadership in compliance with company, state, or federal laws.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in recruitment and HR, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree inhuman resources, business administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. 10 years of recruiting experience with a minimum of 5 years in a management capacity.
  • Proven experience in recruitment, with a strong understanding of sourcing techniques, candidate assessment methods, and recruitment tools.
  • Must possess leadership and strategic thinking skills.
  • Must have stellar decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have advanced oral communication skills.
  • Successful candidates will be attentive and have vision.
  • Successful candidates will possess strong analytical skills.
  • Successful track record of building and optimizing a recruiting function, including process development, technology implementation, headcount management and strategy.
  • Previous experience with ATS systems, job promotion and sourcing tools (Workday Recruiting, LinkedIn and Indeed preferred)
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, particularly related to recruitment and selection processes, specifically OFCCP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with candidates, hiring managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Solid negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ATS), as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company.
  • Strong assessment and decision-making skills; proven ability to influence and build relationships both within the organization and with external sources.
  • A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment.
  • Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement.
  • Proven project management skills; ability to lead projects at a high level to influence and obtain buy-in, and then drive execution and achievement of the right results.
  • A strong focus on solutions and be comfortable working in an environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Solid internal and external customer service focus.
  • Successfully manage multiple priorities simultaneously - orientated on results.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities in a versatile environment with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and compliance with all Veit policies and procedures, applicable codes, laws, and regulations.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
  • Understanding of the construction industry.
  • Experience with Workday.

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must be able to travel 15%.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening.
  • Must be able to work 8+ hour workdays, Monday-Friday, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Physical Demands

Ability to perform manual work requiring frequent periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions. The employee occasionally may encounter high noise levels, but hearing protection is provided/required.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee frequently works alone and with others. Most often in a typical office environment. Employee is rarely exposed to minimal to moderate noise levels on job sites. Work environment is hybrid, with the flexibility to work a combination of offsite and onsite.
