Department Summary

The Department of Internal Medicine's academic goal is to provide primary teaching strategies and problem-based learning solutions for students, residents and fellows. Internal Medicine provides both classroom and clinical based experiences covering both inpatient and ambulatory care. Our goal is to prepare students, residents and fellows to assume roles as clinical practitioners, academic leaders and community advocates in all aspects of primary and subspecialty care.

Position Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics within the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine is hiring an Academic Program Specialist to support the education team. The team member will perform specified administrative coordination and provide specialized program support to the department ensuring that the day-to-day administrative functions are performed. The position is critical to the overall success of education and training projects delivered for students, residents, health workers, and the community. This position serves as a point of contact to students and other learners, faculty, and external partners on matters related to education and training programs, program requirements, procedures and other administrative matters.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Manages time and multiple projects

* Maintains professional dress, grooming and demeanor

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, 1-2 years equivalent combination of education and experience.

1. Experience in academic coordination and/or project coordination

2. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

3. Establishes and maintains a good rapport with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

4. Able to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

5. High-functioning problem-solving skills.

6. High proficiency in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database and word processing software.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates project meetings and supports project meeting scheduling, agendas, minutes, and action item follow-up
  • Attends project meetings and events to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Supports education and training course implementation and provides technical assistance with presentations, recruitment, and other materials
  • Communicates effectively with students and other learners
  • Assists program manager and evaluator with data collection, data entry and processing, and project reporting
  • Processes, completes and maintains accurate education and training records

Work Schedule:

Full Time, Monday through Friday - 8 AM - 5 PM
