At CoreAVI, we specialize in providing safety-critical expertise to clients in aviation, industrial, and automotive sectors, focusing on functionally safe hardware and software component platforms. We are currently seeking a Program Management Specialist to oversee various software initiatives within our rapidly growing organization.

In this role, reporting to the Programs Director and collaborating with other functional leaders, the Program Management Specialist will facilitate proposal development and manage the execution of multiple engineering projects. This position is highly visible, requiring interaction with personnel across all departments, managing customer expectations, and supervising several technically complex internal projects. The Specialist must develop a comprehensive understanding of the processes, tools, and personnel involved in the creation of safety-critical embedded software and the hardware it operates on.

CoreAVI is at the forefront of innovation in the aviation, automotive, and autonomous sectors, driving advancements in safety-critical technologies. We design safety-critical graphics and compute solutions that support safe autonomy, machine vision, AI, and visualization applications across various markets, including automotive, unmanned vehicles, industrial IoT, and both commercial and military avionics systems. We are a team dedicated to innovating a secure and autonomous future.

As we continue to expand into new markets, we are looking for creative, self-motivated individuals to join our team and contribute to our success while enjoying the journey.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the successful execution of multiple programs/projects that span various technical and administrative departments within CoreAVI. Projects may be customer-driven, product partnerships, or internal developments.
  • Assist in resource and schedule forecasting to accurately estimate project requirements in support of quotation activities. Contribute to the development of project proposals, Statements of Work, milestone deliverables, and timelines.
  • Upon securing new business, initiate project teams, ensuring that project assumptions, objectives, and constraints are clearly understood. Establish detailed work plans and keep management informed of any deviations and updates.
  • Coordinate the efforts of geographically distributed project teams working on complex embedded software and hardware systems for defense and aerospace clients, as well as emerging markets in automotive and industrial applications.
  • Utilize independent judgment to develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve team results while executing projects in accordance with AS9100-certified processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project team members and management to identify, prioritize, and mitigate project risks.
  • Communicate resource needs, trade-offs, and execution priorities that align with evolving program risks and priorities.
  • Identify, track, and drive the resolution of cross-functional issues that may impede successful project execution, keeping both internal stakeholders and clients informed of progress and solutions.
  • Facilitate periodic project reviews and provide dashboard reports on project health.
  • Contribute to enhancements in processes, policies, budgeting, tools, and methods that promote operational excellence and innovative product development for CoreAVI's expanding business.
  • Leverage project activities to support knowledge capture, transfer, and management efforts.
  • Utilize and improve work management tools, templates, and software to create a reliable repository of project data that enhances decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical project/program management.
  • Prior experience with embedded software development (C or C++).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, collaboration, persuasion, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership; diligent, tenacious, high integrity, and a robust work ethic.
  • Able to quickly learn CoreAVI's business and navigate organizational dynamics effectively.
  • Proficient in the Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Confluence).
  • Highly skilled in the Microsoft Office tool suite, including Visio, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Project.
  • Engineering BS degree, preferably in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering; or equivalent technical experience.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in Defense and Aerospace markets, avionics, and DO-178 certification.
  • Experience in Automotive, safety-critical software, and Functional Safety (ISO26262).
  • Previous experience as an embedded software developer and/or knowledge of Graphics and Compute frameworks (OpenGL, Vulkan).
  • Expertise in indirectly managing technically specialized, geographically distributed personnel across diverse projects in a matrix management environment.
  • Experience in developing Statements of Work, capacity planning, client engagement, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Experience facilitating embedded software engineering teams through both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems and software development best practices.
  • Advanced degree/certification in project/program management (PgMP, PMP, ACP).
  • Master's degree in Engineering and/or Business.
