About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Population & Community Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. This is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment with a primary focus on developing externally funded research and graduate education in environmental and global health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research: Develop and maintain an externally funded, active research portfolio in environmental and global health, collaborating with SPH and HSC colleagues and external academic and community partners to develop vibrant research teams and nurture an inclusive, interdisciplinary collaborative environment.
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver graduate-level environmental and global health-related courses and research capacity-building curricula in public health, creating and updating course materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with the latest academic and/or industry trends.
  • Service, Engagement, and Professional Development: Provide leadership in the School of Public Health and HSC, staying current with emerging trends and challenges in environmental and global health, and participating in relevant professional organizations and networks to maintain a strong presence and help improve student recruitment and outcomes and SPH reputation.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in environmental health sciences, public health, or a closely related field.
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based teaching practices and student success.
  • Strong potential to develop an independent research program in environmental and global health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Assistant Professor Rank: Strong potential to develop team science research projects that can attract external funding, evidence of teaching excellence and exceptional communication skills, course development experience (both in-person and online), and experience as an environmental health consultant in academic research or industry settings.
  • Associate Professor Rank: Evidence of independent scholarship and/or team-based research, the uptake of research/scholarly work into use by scholars, practitioners, policymakers, educators, community organizations, and/or academics, and a national reputation, evidence of team science research projects and external funding, evidence of an identifiable body of peer-reviewed publications and citations, evidence of evidence-based, high-impact educational practices and mentoring students, evidence of mentoring junior colleagues, experience as an environmental health consultant in academic research or industry settings, and evidence of local, institutional, and national service records.
  • Full Professor Rank: Evidence of a substantial and sustained record of success in externally funded research/scholarly activity, active NIH R01 equivalent extramural funding, evidence of a sizable body of research outputs (publications, citations, programs, other scholarly work) and its demonstrated impact, evidence of innovative, evidence-based teaching and mentoring practices and outcomes, and evidence of publicly engaged scholarship, implementation science, and community-partnered scholarship, and other impactful work that facilitates the uptake of evidence-based practice and research into regular use by practitioners, policymakers, educators, community organizations, or academics.
