Position Overview

About Academy of Visual and Performing Arts

Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is a tuition-free public charter institution serving grades 6-12 in Fort Worth, Texas. Position Type: Full-time. Typical working hours are from 7:30 am to 4:45 pm, with the expectation of flexibility due to the dynamic nature of a start-up educational environment. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel and evening or weekend commitments, with schedules adjusted as necessary for after-hours responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Serve as the primary administrator on the Instructional Leadership Team, fostering a collaborative culture focused on shared accountability for the academic, social, emotional, and artistic development of all students.
  • Facilitate planning sessions for units, lessons, and accelerated learning to ensure differentiated and scaffolded instructional strategies are in place, enabling students to progress toward grade-level expectations.
  • Conduct regular audits of instructional plans and student performance data to inform coaching and support efforts.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of curriculum, ensuring alignment with the Academy's mission of academic excellence.
  • Lead the development of arts-integrated, project-based curricula, collaborating with staff to ensure alignment with educational standards.

Student Achievement Monitoring

  • Continuously assess student progress to ensure mastery of grade-level standards across various subjects and demographic groups.
  • Coordinate the use of diverse data sets to identify learning gaps and support teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Provide insights on trends and challenges in meeting annual goals, collaborating with administration and educators to identify solutions.

Professional Development

  • Guide instructional staff in enhancing teaching and learning through professional development, observations, coaching, and evaluations.
  • Lead the implementation of a comprehensive assessment program.

Human Resources and Compliance

  • Coordinate with campus personnel regarding multi-tiered support systems and academic committees as needed.

Communication

  • Ensure effective communication regarding teaching and learning among staff, families, and the community.
  • Communicate student progress to families, fostering a cooperative relationship based on trust and respect.

Organizational Management

  • Oversee the development of the master schedule, daily activities, teacher assignments, and extracurricular programs.

Additional Duties

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Principal certification preferred; Certified T-TESS appraiser preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in relevant subjects.
  • Experience in instructional leadership or curriculum development.
  • Proven track record of achieving educational goals.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with a high level of business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent project and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable to high standards.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts offers a competitive salary range of $72,500-$75,000 annually, alongside a comprehensive benefits package that includes health benefits and professional development resources. We are committed to equitable pay practices and do not negotiate salaries outside established bands.
