The Job Breakdown

Playfly Sports is on the lookout for a seasoned Account Executive in Sales to be part of the team in Blacksburg, VA.

We need someone with passion and openness to learn to implement the Playfly Sports Properties revenue strategy and to grasp the unique bond with Virginia Tech sports. In this position, you'll collaborate with the General Manager in presenting and finalizing high-level partnership agreements. The role also involves boosting sponsorship revenue to surpass set targets. Above all, you'll champion a culture of dedication and innovation, fostering belief in the revenue objective within the team.

Your Key Achievements

  • Assist in formulating and executing a sales strategy
  • Identify potential sponsors for Virginia Tech Sports Properties by connecting with Virginia Tech stakeholders and business associates, as well as researching local, regional, and national companies
  • Work alongside Playfly Sports Properties and the Virginia Tech Sports Properties General Manager to develop sales offerings, revenue forecasts, and an overall sponsorship plan for Virginia Tech athletics assets
  • Create sales pitches for prospective marketing partners by integrating research, sector dynamics, and a clear grasp of the partners' marketing objectives
  • Prepare sales proposals and negotiate contracts
  • Collaborate with clients to identify key marketing goals through comprehensive needs assessment and a joint sales approach
  • Entertain and nurture sponsor relationships outside of game-related environments
  • Produce year-end reports for sponsors
  • Represent Virginia Tech Sports Properties, Virginia Tech, and Playfly Sports Properties with professionalism
  • Stay updated on sports sponsorship trends and industry developments
  • Leverage Playfly business units to explore new business areas, leads, and sectors
  • Seek, meet, and secure new and renewed corporate sponsorships
  • Undertake other job-related tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is a must
  • 3-5 years of direct sales experience in the sports multimedia field is a prerequisite
  • Proven track record in integrated and conceptual sales
  • Ability to articulate ideas and concepts concisely and offer inventive solutions to prospects and clients
  • Excellent communication skills are vital for interactions with clients, operational leaders, and senior executives
  • Demonstrated professionalism in sales presentations

Travel and Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to sit, stand, and climb stairs
  • This role is predominantly office-based and sedentary
  • Availability for game days, evening athletic events, and coaching shows
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings
