Job Summary: The International Program Assistant Director develops, implements, and maintains study abroad programs, international partnerships, or international student services.


Additional Department Summary: Oversees UA faculty-led operations in coordination with the Director of Education Abroad. Provides leadership to the Faculty-Led Advisor to advance the mission and vision of UA's Education Abroad department through collaboration with campus departments, faculty program leaders, international partners, and custom program providers to provide academically sound, relevant, and safe study abroad programs and exceptional student advising services. Manages day-to-day operations of faculty-led study abroad as it relates to overseeing faculty-led programming student advising, program development with faculty, negotiating international travel logistics with service providers, risk management orientations for faculty, managing student payment process, managing contract/invoices of logistical partners, and supporting academic course generations. Interprets and ensures adherence to UA, UA System, state, and national policies and regulations as they relate to study abroad programs. Supervises one full-time staff member, the faculty-led advisor.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of international program management experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of international program management experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of international higher education systems and university structures. Ability to manage multiple tasks with a highly demanding workload and under pressure of deadlines. Ability to organize and prioritize work without direct supervision, as part of a unit of professional staff members. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking in a variety of settings. Knowledge of UA travel policies, risk management policies, academic registration and records protocols, financial aid, and admission policies, as well as the professional standards for study abroad from NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Forum on Education Abroad Standards of Good Practice.


Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in an area related to international education. Experience living, working, or studying overseas. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in international education, in particular study abroad. Experience working with exchange, provider, or leading a faculty-led program. Experience with Terra Dotta Software and Banner Student Information System.
