  • Position Overview: The Executive Director of the Center for Service and Leadership is responsible for providing strategic oversight, guidance, and management for the CSL. This role involves directing and implementing student service-learning and civic leadership initiatives, with a focus on facilitating volunteerism, community outreach, civic engagement, and service-learning. The aim is to enrich the student experience through active participation and leadership opportunities within the community. The director will develop and execute impactful and experiential learning programs that empower students to enhance their leadership capabilities while becoming engaged global citizens.
  • Additional Departmental Overview: As a key member of the Student Engagement Team, the Executive Director provides strategic direction and oversight for the CSL. This role is pivotal in advancing student service-learning and civic leadership initiatives within the Student Life division, emphasizing the support and coordination of programs that foster volunteerism, community outreach, civic engagement, and leadership development. The director is committed to enhancing the student experience through meaningful engagement and leadership opportunities. Additionally, the role involves nurturing and sustaining collaborative partnerships with community service organizations. The director is responsible for ensuring compliance with training requirements and promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace environment. The position also includes accountability for financial reporting and adherence to internal processes and controls as stipulated by institutional policies.
  • Essential Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree along with eight (8) years of experience in student life or student affairs; OR a Master’s degree with six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Additional Required Qualifications: A valid U.S. driver’s license is required. Candidates must be at least 19 years old at the time of hire and possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report in compliance with institutional policies. Candidates under 21 may face certain driving restrictions.
  • Skills and Competencies: A demonstrated commitment to enhancing multicultural understanding, awareness, and skills, evidenced by self-awareness, valuing diversity, and effectively engaging with individuals from various backgrounds and experiences.
  • Preferred Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education environment, particularly in civic engagement, service-learning, or community-based learning, including leadership roles over programs, departments, or units.
  • Background Check Requirement: Prior to employment, selected candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, which may include information obtained from social media and other online sources. A prior conviction revealed during this process does not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. Candidates with prior convictions or concerning behavioral history will undergo an individualized review before a hiring decision is made.
