Job Summary: The Assistant Director of UMC Nursing Services provides administrative direction and supervision of nursing services to ensure quality patient care and treatment at all clinics. Assists with development and administration of clinical nursing workflows. Coordinates standardization of procedures. Participates in leadership meetings and quality improvement, assists with policy development. Provides guidance, trains, and supervises nursing staff. Ensures staff maintain licensure requirements.


Additional Department Summary: Oversees daily operations at University Medical Center clinic locations to ensure quality patient care and treatment, under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Travels to provide onsite support at all CCHS/UMC clinical sites. Provides guidance and training to build an efficient and effective clinical staff, and promotes a strong environment of integrity and responsibility. Partners with Nursing Supervisors to assign tasks and set completion deadlines. Manages staff schedules, assists in training of new staff and periodic employee performance evaluations, generates monthly productivity reports for CNO and assists with routine audit functions as directed. Serves as liaison to other CCHS departments, including clinical departments and enterprise departments such as Finance, Health IT, Reception, Lab, etc. Maintains strictest confidentiality. Adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and four (4) years of management experience in a nursing role. Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Alabama in good standing.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of health care management, clinic philosophy, and policies and operational procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to analyze and interpret complex data. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to monitor quality control standards. Skills in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, providers, patients, and regulators. Skills in organizing work to achieve clinic goals and objectives. Proficient in the use of personal computers, standard application software, and electronic health record systems. Excellent organizational and effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate with respect and sensitivity. Demonstrated experience working with electronic medical records. Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making.


Preferred Qualifications: MSN or Specialty Nursing Certification.
