Job Description

**Position Overview:

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 403(b) plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:**

Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Assists with new-employee orientations.
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes.
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
Responds to 403(b) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
Assists with the open enrollment process.
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
May assist with wellness initiatives and other benefit activities to increase employee engagement along with other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.

Prior experience of at least 2 years in a Human Resources and or Benefits related position

Demonstrated ability to work independently with great attention to detail and ability to execute multiple tasks with changing priorities
Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information with respect and aid in its protection
Solutions oriented with the ability to quickly identify problems and propose solutions
Strong communication skills and willingness to work with and provide excellent customer service to others
Good, working knowledge of HR/payroll systems (preferably Paylocity), Microsoft Office, Google Suites and other related systems with the desire to learn more and teach others

Additional Information

This position will have a schedule of 9:00am - 3:00pm Monday through Friday with the possibility of working additional hours as needed.

The starting pay for this position is $30 an hour.
