The American Lung Association presents a remarkable opportunity for a Human Resources and Talent Acquisition Specialist. As a vital member of the Human Resources team, you will collaborate with a dedicated group of professionals committed to our mission: enhancing lung health and preventing lung diseases through research, education, and advocacy.
This position plays a crucial role in talent acquisition, development, onboarding, and offboarding processes. The Specialist will support the organization’s talent needs by facilitating recruitment processes and ensuring a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new employees. Additionally, this role will engage in talent development initiatives and assist with the offboarding of employees.
Location: This position operates in a hybrid model, combining both in-person and remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition
- Advertise open positions and internship opportunities on external job platforms. Manage and file invoices to ensure timely payments.
- Collaborate with managers to facilitate intern recruitment.
- Oversee the HR Inbox, addressing inquiries or directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Administer background checks through the designated systems.
- Act as a brand ambassador for the American Lung Association to potential candidates and external stakeholders.
- Identify areas for improvement in recruitment strategies, propose solutions, and assist in implementing new methods.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Serve as a resource for new hires and their managers to guarantee a positive onboarding experience.
- Communicate onboarding details to new employees prior to their start date.
- Coordinate with managers, various departments, and the HR team to facilitate efficient onboarding.
- Collaborate with IT and supervisors to ensure all necessary equipment and access are ready for new employees on their first day.
- Maintain the electronic filing system to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
- Handle employment verifications and work with hiring managers for timely processing.
- Manage staff resignation acknowledgments and coordinate account closures.
- Keep new hire files organized and ensure timely completion of required documentation.
- Support the offboarding process for departing employees, including conducting exit interviews.
Talent Development
- Act as a data manager to gather and organize information from various sources for recruitment, training, onboarding, and employee engagement purposes.
- Oversee annual training compliance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience in Human Resources.
- Exceptional customer service, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to interpret and effectively convey policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative while managing deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and reporting; experience with specific systems is preferred.
- Capability to collect and organize data from diverse sources to support decision-making. Understanding of HR principles and legal requirements related to employment.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Microsoft Teams is advantageous.
- In alignment with its mission, the American Lung Association maintains a smoke-free workplace; all employees are required to refrain from tobacco use in any form.
Compensation: The compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $50,000 and $56,000 annually.
Benefits: The American Lung Association offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Paid Leave - 10 vacation days in the first year (15 days thereafter), 2 personal days, and 15 sick days annually, along with 12 company-paid holidays. Paid Parental Leave is also available for eligible employees.
- Insurance - Employees and their eligible dependents can enroll in medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as voluntary plans for critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, short-term disability, and supplemental life/AD&D insurance. Company-paid life/AD&D and long-term disability insurance coverage is also provided.
- Retirement Plan - Eligible employees can participate in a 401(k) Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, which includes matching employer contributions (up to 4%) and year-end discretionary non-elective contributions.
