Student Engagement Program Coordinator

Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, has an immediate need for a Full-time Student Engagement Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Life. The work schedule is Monday thru Friday, 8:30-5 p.m. with some evening and weekend hours required. This is a Non-bargaining, Non-exempt, Grade 27 position. Non-exempt positions are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. This position is eligible for telework one (1) day a week after completion of a training period. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.
Under supervision and/or direction of the student life director, this position will design and oversee implementation of events and programs that support and enhance the student experience, contributing to retention and engagement of students. Formulates and plans programs that reflect the changing and diverse nature of the student body and community. Plans, coordinates, and implements special programs, events, and activities on behalf of the Student Engagement Unit. The work consists of varied duties involving several processes and methods and incorporates planning, developing, and performing tasks of an administrative nature. Regular contact with staff in the same or other departments, students, faculty, volunteers, vendors, and representatives of community organizations.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Plans, coordinates, implements and manages student programs, including scheduling venues, ordering food and supplies, initiating contracts, and working with vendors.
- Assesses the need for programming based on student interests, current trends, and compliance requirements.
- Develops and coordinates events for various student populations, including but not limited to first-gen students, international students, parenting students, and traditional, nontraditional, and distance-learning students.
- Coordinates efforts for New Student Orientation (NSO) events such as Raptor 101 and Raptor Day, and coordinates and manages the online New Student Orientation program.
- Supports existing programs by participating in tabling activities, recruiting students for events, and volunteering for events
- Promotes awareness about special initiatives and engagement opportunities to students.
- Develops and implements Student Engagement initiatives focused on retention and creating a sense of belonging.
- Develops and maintains event publications, flyers, social media, website information, and email listservs for programmatic efforts.
- Provides other support functions within the area of Student Engagement as needed.
- Creates and maintains data, assessments, and written reports for all programs.
- Bachelor's degree OR the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Three years' experience in administrative support, program management, and event planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint etc.) social media applications (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), and design applications (Canva, Adobe, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of operations and program processes pertaining to coordination of projects, plans, and schedules; management of
- Ability to work independently.

- Master's Degree.
- Experience in a community college setting.
