Boston University's Faculty & Staff Assistance Office (FSAO) is dedicated to providing inclusive and compassionate employee assistance services to BU faculty and staff and their household family members. We are seeking a licensed mental health professional who is passionate about providing high-quality clinical care to individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The Employee Assistance Counselor provides employee assistance services to promote the resilience and well-being of Boston University faculty, staff, and their household family members. Services include direct clinical care, consultation and training to the organization, development of program promotion activities, and establishment of community linkages and a provider referral network. Services are provided on BU's Charles River and Medical campuses with the option of some remote work. The position reports to the Director of the Faculty & Staff Assistance Office.

Responsibilities:

Provides confidential clinical services to individuals, couples, and groups including assessment, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, case monitoring, and referrals for personal and work-related concerns.
Provides critical incident and grief support for individuals and groups.
Consults to managers/supervisors, Human Resources, Occupational Health, Equal Opportunity, Diversity & Inclusion and other department administrators regarding risk assessment, critical incidents, workplace conflict, and employees with work performance, personal, or other workplace issues.
Provides consultation and coordination with Human Resources and Occupational Health in assessing fitness for duty and supporting successful reintegration of employees returning from leave.
Creates and delivers responsive training and educational workshops on effective utilization of EAP services, behavioral health, emotional well-being, work-life, and other EAP-related topics.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Fosters and maintains effective and constructive communication within a team environment.
Identifies, evaluates, and develops referral relationships with local behavioral health and substance use treatment providers; identifies community resources to address employee needs.
Participates in program awareness activities; cultivates employee well-being through innovative programing, workshops, social media and promotion of wellness activities.
Initiates and implements clinical and programmatic improvements to EAP services; contributes to creating and revising policies and procedures.
Serves on advisory boards and committees within the organization and in professional EAP organizations.
Maintains timely case documentation and program statistics; strictly adheres to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills
Master's Degree and currently licensed as a mental health professional in good standing.
Minimum of 5 years post-master's clinical experience.
Knowledge and experience working with diverse racial, cultural, socio-economic, educational, age-specific and gender populations.
Advanced knowledge of and ability to intervene with a broad range of issues including substance use, psychiatric illness, suicide/homicide risk assessment, interpersonal violence, critical incidents, organizational difficulties, and workplace conflict.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with public speaking and presentation of trainings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Data Base Management applications.
Ability to provide some services before 9 am and after 5 pm.
Employee assistance experience preferred.
