Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings & weekends as needed.


Job Summary: The Director of Pharmacy Services recruits and supervises Student Health Center Pharmacy personnel. Oversees the delivery of pharmaceutical services to the students of the University and appropriate departments on campus. Supervises financial reports and forms including purchase requisitions, orders, returns, invoices, and statements.


Additional Department Summary: Provides directional leadership and oversight of pharmacy services for the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS). Services Student Health Center (SHC) and UMC Faculty/Staff Clinic. Oversees all pharmacy personnel. Establishes and maintains extensive quality control and quality assurance protocols for all pharmacy services. Ensures compliance with College and University regulations, policies, and procedures. Manages accurate and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services to UA students, faculty, and staff. Maintains strictest confidentiality. Adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy and six (6) years of pharmacy experience. Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate (ACSC) and United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License, or qualification to apply for required licensure.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Supervisory experience to include oversight of pharmacy operations and staff employees.

Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to monitor quality control standards. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Skills in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, providers, patients, and regulators. Skills in organizing work to achieve department goals and objectives. Proficient in the use of personal computers, standard application software, and pharmacy software systems. Excellent organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate with respect, situational awareness, and sensitivity. Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making. Ability to maintain strict confidentially of protected health information and follow HIPAA regulations at all times.


Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Pharmacy.
