Collins Aerospace is in search of a Lead Mechanical Engineer to take charge and ensure successful execution of the engineering team's tasks. As the main point of contact for the design team, you will effectively communicate project scopes, aims, and deliverables with the Integrated Product Team. Your responsibilities include creating comprehensive plans, working closely with the engineering team to meet technical and program needs within set timelines and budgets. You will oversee tasks, changes in scope, and provide regular updates on progress to the Project Engineer and manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical liaison with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineer to establish and maintain the engineering schedule.
  • Lead a small engineering team in product design and drawing creation.
  • Ensure clear communication of the program statement of work to the design team.
  • Accountable for meeting customer, regulatory, schedule, and budget requirements in design engineering work.
  • Identify scope changes and project risks and report to the Project Engineer.
  • Support the Project Engineer by participating in milestone and technical meetings with customers.
  • Work closely with the Integrated Product Team to ensure program success.
  • Provide project status reports to the project engineer and engineering management.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • University Degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or equivalent experience of 9 years.
  • Minimum 2 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of CAD or similar design experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace industry experience is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in leading designers on a project.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, CAD (NX), and PLM Systems (Teamcenter).
  • Experience working with commercial aircraft like Boeing and Airbus.
  • Direct involvement with commercial aircraft interiors and/or system design.
