Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Accreditation and Academic Administration for the School of Physician Assistant Studies (SPAS) serves as the administrator for SPAS, overseeing key administrative activities related to education, school operations, finance, grants, and human resources. Reporting to the SPAS Director, this role plays a crucial part in formulating and implementing policies that align with the school’s strategic goals and the broader missions of the College of Medicine.

The Assistant Director leads accreditation efforts, ensuring compliance with standards and driving continuous improvement in educational practices. Through innovative methods and strategies, this position enhances the school's ability to fulfill its educational mission. The role demands strategic leadership, innovative problem-solving, and effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders to foster an inclusive and dynamic academic environment.

More About This Role

Accreditation Management 

Collaborate with the Director to develop internal reporting, data analytics, and metrics aligned with ARC-PA standards. Maintain the ARC-PA Program Management Portal. Assist the Director in creating and submitting of the program’s annual report to ARC-PA, and assist with completing the Self Study Report (SSR) in preparation for site visits. Project manage all aspects of the accreditation site visit. Ensuring a well thought process and timeline for the reviewers site visit. Review the site visit observations and coordinate with the Director on a response (if needed).

Administrative Oversight and Leadership

Supervises all business and administrative functions of SPAS, independently managing non-faculty administrative personnel, including hiring, goal setting, employee relations, evaluations, compensation, and HR concerns. Develops and establishes operating procedures for SPAS consistent with the school’s and director’s policies/objective, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across clinical, academic, and research missions. Directs the formulation of the SPAS’s budget and fiscal activities. Works with other department administrators to assist in the placement of SPAS faculty in the clinical setting. Collaborate with the Director on faculty recruitment strategies and initiatives, ensuring support for faculty in the promotion and tenure process. Assists with the development of the SPAS strategic plan.

Collaboration with the UF College of Medicine Educational Affairs

Advise deans, faculty, and other stakeholders on accreditation requirements and quality improvement. Collaborate with the Dean, Senior Associate Dean for Education, various committees, faculty, and staff to ensure effective systems are in place to monitor compliance with accreditation standards. Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues. Serves as the SPAS’s administrative contact for the College of Medicine, University of Florida, and external agencies for reporting and compliance requests.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will posses: 

Advanced degree in education or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in higher education administration or academic program management. Proven track record of successful project management, particularly in accreditation processes within higher education. Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools to support self-assessment and accreditation activities. Experience with accreditation management systems and academic management software. Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and managing administrative staff. Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and/or operating procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners. Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across various departments and institutions. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions. Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency; promoting an environment that respects and values cultural differences and perspectives. Familiarity with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) standards and processes is a bonus.
