Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Neurosurgeon to lead our Neurosurgery Program at our academic hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervisory and programmatic oversight of our Neurosurgery Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and advancing our academic mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Neurosurgery Service, overseeing the clinical and operative activities of our team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes, quality of care, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with our academic partners to advance our research and education programs.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to our neurosurgery residents and fellows.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of our clinical policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Board certification in Neurological Surgery.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program in Neurological Surgery.
  • Experience in all aspects of clinical and operative Neurosurgery.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Adjunct faculty position at the University of Florida.
  • Experience in academic medicine and research.
Work Environment

This position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing and able to hear whisper.

The incumbent must be physically, emotionally and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.
