Job Title: Research Laboratory Manager

MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly skilled Research Laboratory Manager to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for managing the overall functions of a research laboratory, including specimen collection and processing, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, inventory management, and supply procurement.
  • Supervise laboratory staff, including training and development of technical skills.
  • Develop and implement laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinate with departmental administration and human resources to identify and recruit qualified applicants for laboratory positions.
  • Assist with grant preparation and submission, including estimating personnel, equipment, and supply costs.
  • Act as a liaison between the laboratory and departmental administration, including coordinating with facilities operations and information services.
  • Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures, including those related to animal research and IACUC compliance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or related field.
  • Seven years of experience in a scientific, research, or clinical laboratory, including four years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Preferred degree with five years of experience, including four years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
