Position Overview

AECOM Water is actively seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the civil design of projects related to flood control, mining, and site closure, including leach stockpiles, evaporation ponds, tailing facilities, flood control dams, and CCR closures. Collaborate on regional projects to gain diverse experience and expand your professional network.
  • Develop layouts and designs, and conduct calculations and analyses for channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and access roads. Designs will incorporate erosion control measures, geosynthetics, and piping and pumping systems.
  • Execute hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS software, along with quantity and cost estimations and alternative assessments.
  • Draft sections of technical proposals, reports, and regulatory agency permits.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Provide field support, including construction oversight, site inspections, and geotechnical investigations, while also adapting designs to align with field conditions.
  • Create engineering drawings and visual aids utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Engage in client meetings and build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical software and engineering practices.
  • Complete assignments with attention to detail, applying standard techniques and procedures to fulfill engineering tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of relevant project experience.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic software applications.
  • Experience with Civil3D.
  • Preferred experience in project design and fieldwork.
