Position Overview

AECOM Water is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the civil design of flood management, mining, and closure projects, including leach stockpiles, evaporation ponds, tailing facilities, flood control structures, and CCR closures. Engage in regional collaborative projects that offer diverse experiences, professional growth, and networking opportunities.
  • Develop layouts/designs and conduct calculations/analyses for channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operational ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and access roads. Ensure designs incorporate erosion control measures, geosynthetics, and piping and pumping systems.
  • Execute hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS software, prepare quantity/cost estimates, and perform alternative assessments.
  • Draft sections of technical proposals, reports, and regulatory agency permits.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams.
  • Provide field support, including construction oversight, site inspections, and geotechnical investigations, while adapting designs to field conditions.
  • Create engineering drawings and visual aids utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Participate in client meetings and foster strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical software and engineering practices.
  • Carry out assignments with attention to detail, applying standard techniques and criteria to complete engineering tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of applicable experience or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of relevant project experience.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic software applications.
  • Experience with Civil3D.
  • Field experience in project design is advantageous.
