Position Overview

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is expanding and is seeking a seasoned professional for our Tucson, AZ office. As a Civil Engineering Principal, you will work closely with our executive team to enhance the Civil/Site Practice. Your role will involve fostering and enhancing relationships with both potential and current clients, thereby steering the growth of the practice on local and regional levels.

In this capacity, you will navigate external stakeholders through the regulatory landscape, ensuring the technical excellence of all projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and evaluating proposals and project budgets;
  • Managing and mentoring a team of engineers and project managers;
  • Conducting final quality control and assurance for projects.

As a leader, you will guide your team through diverse civil engineering projects and business development efforts. You will also play a key role in recruiting and nurturing staff, conducting annual performance reviews, and setting developmental objectives. Our senior management will collaborate with you to tailor your career trajectory through various professional development and mentoring opportunities.


Qualifications Required

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience;
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;
  • An Arizona Professional Engineering License (P.E.);
  • Established connections and a professional network with developers, architects, businesses, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in preparing engineering plans for permitting and construction, with the ability to collaborate with various regulatory bodies for project approvals;
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to cultivate client relationships;
  • Proven expertise in technical oversight and project management services, including quality reviews of design elements such as site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management systems, and utilities;
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and leading a diverse team to provide integrated client services.
