Position Overview

AECOM is in search of a highly skilled and driven Senior Civil Engineer specializing in highway and roadway design for an exciting opportunity in our Tucson, Arizona office.

The key responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a senior technical resource and advisor for the team.
  • Providing specialized technical insights for studies and designs within your area of expertise.
  • Developing procedures for studies and designs to ensure high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Creating construction cost estimates and assessing technical efforts for projects.
  • Utilizing expertise in all phases of completing discipline components of PS&E packages.
  • Conducting quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
  • Preparing technical specification sections.
  • Contributing to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
  • Initiating and producing project designs and plans for transportation and civil engineering projects.
  • Executing detailed designs, including comprehensive calculation packages and detailed development.
  • Guiding the drafting team from initial design stages to final contract plans.
  • Understanding the significance of review and quality control, capable of reviewing design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Preparing and collaborating on the development and implementation of technical approaches in projects with the Project Manager.
  • Overseeing the work of junior designers.
  • Engaging with clients to ensure their needs are met.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree with 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain a PE license within the first year of employment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with relevant experience or equivalent education.
  • Proficiency in design software such as MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Experience in designing highway and roadway systems.
  • Experience with Design-Build (DB) and/or General Engineering Consultant (GEC) projects.
  • Prior design experience on transportation projects, including Schematic Development and PS&E preparation.
  • Experience in Business Development and Client Relations.
