Job Overview

Position: Senior Construction Supervisor

The Senior Construction Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of subcontractors on the construction site and managing the Wood Partners (WP) field personnel assigned to the project. This role serves as the primary advocate for the WP culture and reports directly to the Project Manager (PM).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and assess pre-construction design documents, assist the PM in developing scopes of work, contribute to the creation of the baseline project schedule, and support the mobilization of the job site office; aid the PM with building permits and surveys.
  • Lead the field team by supervising and evaluating staff performance while providing guidance on objectives and scheduling.
  • Ensure the safety of the job site and field personnel through site inspections, evaluation of work practices, tools, and equipment, including fall protection and scaffolding. Maintain a safety violation log, conduct weekly safety meetings, and adhere to company protocols during OSHA inspections.
  • Manage overall field operations through weekly meetings with foremen, collaborate with project managers on corrective measures, and foster positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Facilitate effective workflow and scheduling by developing and monitoring a 3-Week Look Ahead schedule, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, and ensuring timely material deliveries while addressing any scheduling concerns with the Project Manager.
  • Guarantee compliance with building codes by ensuring completed work meets all testing and certification standards, conducting frame, rough, and final inspections, and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain quality assurance by consistently inspecting all work to ensure adherence to current plans and specifications, submitting Requests for Information (RFIs) to the PM when needed, and notifying trades of all updates and changes to ensure proper implementation and minimize rework.
  • Oversee material management by verifying material delivery tickets against actual shipments, cross-referencing with purchase orders, rejecting incorrect or defective items, and expediting replacements while ensuring materials are utilized appropriately.
  • Ensure adherence to WP's Mold and Moisture Intrusion Protocol at all levels.
  • Manage cost control by demonstrating and communicating best practices to trades, reviewing plans and contracts prior to approving additional costs, and measuring completed work for monthly billing.
  • Promote cleanliness and waste management by establishing and enforcing good housekeeping practices on-site, implementing cleaning assignments with trades, deploying dumpsters as needed, and providing adequate restroom facilities.
  • Protect site security by safeguarding company assets and completed work, locking construction sheds and buildings as necessary, monitoring site traffic, and coordinating with law enforcement to report any theft or vandalism.
  • Oversee erosion control measures by maintaining a daily log of rainfall, submitting monthly reports to the main office, and collaborating with erosion control consultants during site visits.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as preparing agendas for site meetings, issuing meeting minutes, logging daily reports, processing field paperwork, and managing supply runs as required.
  • Support a successful post-construction process by assisting in turnover walks and contributing to the preparation of final closeout reports and lessons learned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing construction projects from inception to completion.
  • 5+ years of experience on projects valued at $25M or more.
  • 3+ years of experience in wood framing is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience supervising direct reports.
  • Strong understanding of local regulations related to project scope.
  • High proficiency in reading and comprehending plans and specifications.
