Position Overview:
An individual in this role is tasked with executing comprehensive audits across various departments within Montgomery County. The work encompasses financial, compliance, efficiency, and performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and oversee audits of County departments and functions.
- Perform initial assessments in designated departments to identify activities and propose audit requirements.
- Develop and recommend a preliminary audit work plan, detailing scope, methodologies, and timelines as per supervisory guidelines.
- Execute audits by reviewing documentation and interviewing personnel to gather necessary information.
- Draft detailed reports outlining audit findings and recommendations, including management responses, and finalize audit documentation in both electronic and physical formats.
- Analyze and evaluate compliance with legal, contractual, and financial standards, focusing on the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of County operations.
- Present findings to management, articulating issues and advocating for the implementation of recommendations.
- Undertake additional related tasks as necessary.

Continuing Education Requirement:
40 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits must be obtained annually to maintain the Auditor role.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant auditing or professional accounting experience.
- Current or in-progress candidacy for recognized auditing designations such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or others.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to travel to various audit locations, carry necessary equipment, and perform tasks that may involve lifting up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
