Overview:

The NERC Compliance Division plays a pivotal role in the formulation, coordination, oversight, and dissemination of all electric reliability standards established by the North American Reliability Corporation (NERC), the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB), and the Regional Compliance Entities. Team members contribute to this mission through essential activities in the following domains:

  • NERC Coordination
  • Reliability First Coordination
  • SERC Reliability Corporation Coordination
  • ISO/RTO Council (IRC) Coordination
  • Standards Development
  • Compliance Coordination
  • Evidence Gathering
  • Compliance Assessments
  • Self Certifications and Spot Checks
  • Regional Audits
  • Transmission Owner Audits
  • Reliability Planning and Assessments
  • Committee Participation and Leadership

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively on diverse assignments that involve the compilation, preparation, and analysis of various statistical and analytical data, reports, statements, studies, or projects across Operations, Planning, and CIP areas.
  • Experience in a leadership capacity for projects and participation in NERC, RF, and SERC task forces and working groups, along with active involvement in electric industry forums.
  • Proven analytical and reasoning skills, along with strong verbal and presentation capabilities. The candidate must effectively communicate information to peers and management.
  • Competence in problem definition, data collection, fact establishment, solution determination, and valid conclusion drawing.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to address standards-related risks.
  • Engagement in regular audits of each Transmission Owner's compliance with designated tasks to ensure adherence to NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Review of new or revised standards, procedures, or policies to identify necessary changes for ongoing compliance.
  • Support for client personnel on Standards Drafting Teams, as well as NERC and Regional committees and working groups.
  • Participation in standards reviews and feedback submission as part of the NERC and Regional Standards Development Process.
  • Development of recommendations that provide guidance on NERC and Regional standards affecting the clients' systems, capabilities, and reliability.
  • Collaboration with company stakeholders to create, implement, and manage routine operations reports that document and demonstrate compliance with NERC and Regional standards.
  • Preparation of clients for NERC and Regional Compliance Audits, Spot Checks, and Self-Certifications.
  • Updating compliance tools, tracking audit efforts and progress, and managing compliance documentation libraries.
  • Involvement in enhancing company controls for requirements where non-compliance could lead to significant reliability, financial, or reputational consequences.
