Role Summary
As a vital part of the largest College at the University of Michigan, LSA Finance comprises a dedicated team of over 100 professionals who deliver financial, procurement, and research administration support to a wide array of units.

We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Business Analyst Lead. This role involves providing financial reporting, analysis, and support services for LSA units while taking on a leadership position within a 20-member Business Analyst team.

The Business Analyst will be an integral member of LSA Finance, reporting directly to the Business Analyst Manager and collaborating with Unit Administrators to deliver shared financial management and analytical support.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Unit Administrators to create budgets and strategically interpret performance against those budgets, addressing any financial inquiries that arise.
- Provide accurate guidance regarding financial policies and procedures at UM, LSA, and unit levels.
- Develop regular and ad hoc reports and analyses for units and college leadership.
- Foster a robust internal controls environment and manage processes to ensure compliance.
- Advise on operational efficiency within units to optimize the use of financial resources.
- Lead process and project teams, managing competing priorities effectively. Identify opportunities for process improvements and best practices, measuring the success of enhancement initiatives.
- Deliver training to unit and LSA Finance staff.
- Participate in the Business Analyst leadership team, collaborating on LSA Finance objectives.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Extensive proficiency in spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) and complex databases, along with other Office products.
- Proven ability to create data queries and reports.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Highly proactive with strong problem-solving abilities and accountability for workload, demonstrating adaptability in changing environments.
- Experience in recognizing and investigating data anomalies.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently, coordinating cross-functional teams and facilitating productive discussions.
- Experience in leading teams and projects, with a strong capacity to manage competing priorities and complex team dynamics.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities to build consensus and motivate team members.

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with University administrative and business tools, including Business Objects, MReports, and other MPathways systems; knowledge of UM organizational structure or similar experience is preferred.
- Experience in a university or higher education setting.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence applications.

Work Modes
Positions eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work arrangements are determined at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and may change at any time throughout employment.

Additional Information
The target salary range for this position is $100,000 - $109,800. The actual salary offered may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
