Position Overview PMA Consultants is thrilled to present an opportunity for a Lead Financial Analyst to play a crucial role within our accounting division at a dynamic project and program management firm. This position will be a hybrid role based at our Corporate Headquarters.
The Lead Financial Analyst will undertake a range of financial responsibilities, including the investigation of appropriate accounting practices for new or unique transactions, preparation of journal entries, overseeing the accounts payable and business expense team, managing fixed assets, and gaining insights into tax regulations and FAR overhead rate analysis for government contracts. Additionally, you will provide support to the Senior Director of Accounting and Controller as needed. The ideal candidate will possess experience in accounts payable processes from requisition to disbursement, alongside strong analytical skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate monthly and year-end standard journal entries, including entries for new and unique events.
  • Research appropriate accounting practices under both Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure precise financial reporting.
  • Examine and analyze historical accounting data to ascertain original intent and utilize accounting expertise to rectify any identified discrepancies.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Manage fixed asset recognition and perform monthly depreciation calculations.
  • Handle intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and eliminations.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for various audits and governmental projects.
  • Complete regular business and tax filings.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable and Business Expense team, including voucher creation, disbursements, and reporting of year-end 1099s.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting software and related processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting with a focus on accounts payable.
  • Strong foundation and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a growing team.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
Additional Requirements: Physical: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally and spend prolonged hours in front of a computer screen.
