Position Title: Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

REPORTING TO: Director of Property Operations and Maintenance

The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the upkeep and health of our outdoor spaces. This includes managing Solid Waste, Recycling, Firewood Distribution, and Firepit Maintenance, while also assisting with event preparations as needed. In this leadership role, you will conduct department briefings, manage scheduling, provide training, and handle reporting and candidate evaluations. Flexibility is essential, as work hours may include evenings and weekends, and a significant portion of the role involves outdoor work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the grounds team, including recruitment, training, communication, and performance management.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of the property to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Welcome and engage with guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Oversee the collection and proper disposal of solid waste and recycling throughout the property on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to support grounds maintenance and recycling efforts.
  • Manage the receiving and distribution of firewood for firepits, stoves, and fireplaces across the property.
  • Ensure the daily maintenance and cleanliness of firepits.
  • Assist with the transportation of firepits and other large items as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all grounds areas.
  • Provide general information about the resort to guests.
  • Interact professionally with resort staff, maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Communicate significant repairs around the property to the appropriate supervisor or business partner.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospitality is highly preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience; certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience in custodial or outdoor grounds maintenance is strongly preferred, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and experience operating larger vehicles.
  • Knowledge of forklift maintenance, cardboard bailers, compactors, and carts (both electric and gas).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (HotSOS, Alice) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of sustainable cleaning chemicals and practices.
  • Basic electrical skills are beneficial.
  • Experience with exterior painting.
  • Proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools.
  • Effective communication skills with all organizational levels, both written and verbal.
  • Light landscaping experience in a professional context.
  • Ability to critically assess spaces and address imperfections.
  • Self-motivated and able to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Basic plumbing and irrigation knowledge is a plus.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
