Sustainability, a core principle, influences every aspect of our work, as the vitality of the land is fundamental to our mission.
The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor will manage all activities related to the well-being of our grounds; including Solid Waste Management, Recycling, Firewood Distribution, and Firepit Maintenance, while also assisting with specific event preparations. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for departmental briefings, scheduling, training, reporting, and candidate evaluations. Flexibility is essential, as work shifts may include evenings and weekends due to the nature of our hospitality services. This position involves significant outdoor work on our property.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the activities of grounds team members, including selection, training, communication, and performance evaluation.
- Conduct quality control inspections of the property to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
- Welcome and engage with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
- Manage the collection and proper disposal of solid waste and recycling throughout the property on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to support grounds maintenance and recycling initiatives.
- Supervise the receiving and distribution of firewood for firepits, stoves, and fireplaces across the property.
- Ensure firepits are cleaned daily.
- Assist with the transportation of firepits and other large items on the property.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all grounds areas.
- Provide general information about the resort to guests.
- Interact professionally with resort staff, maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Communicate any major repairs needed on the property to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience in hospitality is highly preferred.
- Forklift operation experience is preferred; certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in custodial or outdoor grounds maintenance is strongly preferred, with a keen attention to detail.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and experience operating large vehicles.
- Familiarity with forklift maintenance, cardboard bailers, compactors, and carts (both electric and gas).
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
- Proficient in computer technology, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Experience with ticketing systems (HotSOS, Alice) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of sustainable cleaning products and methods.
- Basic electrical skills are beneficial.
- Experience in exterior painting is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools.
- Effective communication skills with all organizational levels, both written and verbal.
- Some landscape experience in a professional setting is preferred.
- Ability to critically assess spaces and address imperfections effectively.
- Self-motivated and able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Basic plumbing and irrigation knowledge is an asset.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED is preferred.
