Southall Farm & Inn is dedicated to sustainability, implementing practices that minimize waste and enhance the environment. Our commitment to conservation is evident in our operations, from our advanced recycling systems to the use of energy-efficient technologies.

The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of land care, including waste management, recycling, firewood distribution, and maintenance of outdoor fire features. This role includes leadership duties such as conducting team briefings, scheduling, training, and overseeing performance. Flexibility is essential, as shifts may include evenings and weekends, with a significant portion of the work conducted outdoors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise grounds team members, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure property cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage the collection and proper disposal of waste and recyclables across the property multiple times daily.
  • Collaborate with vendors to procure necessary supplies and services for grounds maintenance and recycling efforts.
  • Oversee the distribution of firewood for outdoor fire features and ensure their cleanliness.
  • Assist in the transportation of large items on the property.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all outdoor areas.
  • Provide general information about the resort to guests.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in interactions with resort staff.
  • Report significant repairs and maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospitality is highly preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus; certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in custodial or outdoor maintenance roles is strongly preferred, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and experience operating larger vehicles.
  • Familiarity with maintenance equipment such as forklifts, bailers, and compactors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with ticketing systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of eco-friendly cleaning products and methods.
  • Basic electrical skills and experience with exterior painting.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Some landscape maintenance experience is beneficial.
  • Self-motivated and able to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic plumbing or irrigation knowledge is a plus.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
