Job Summary

The Smithsonian Institution seeks an experienced Institutional Gift Officer to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic professional with strong frontline fundraising skills to play a key role in building private support for public programs, exhibitions, educational and outreach activities, and endowment needs of the Museum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities for corporations and foundations
  • Providing high-level support for the museum's top-level prospects and donors
  • Managing a portfolio of institutional prospects
  • Developing funding proposals and negotiating complex gifts
Requirements
  • Strong leadership and communications skills
  • Progressive fundraising experience, experience with diverse constituents, and ability to close major gifts
  • Knowledge of and experience with writing proposals and reports, preparing complex budgets, and grant management
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, and the initiative and ability to work independently
