Job Summary

The Humane Rescue Alliance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Major Gifts to lead our Washington, DC major gifts program. This is a critical role that requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of securing six and seven figure gifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, including identifying and soliciting new prospects.
  • Work closely with the Chief Development Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Board of Directors to ensure alignment and support for the major gifts program.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, including developing and implementing personalized solicitation plans.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure effective communication and coordination across all fundraising efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the organization's mission, programs, and services to effectively communicate the value of supporting the Humane Rescue Alliance.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in major gifts fundraising and apply this knowledge to continuously improve the program.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as non-profit management, business, or communications.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in major gifts fundraising, with a proven track record of securing six and seven figure gifts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with donors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
