LEEP Dual Language Academy Charter School is an innovative and expanding elementary institution dedicated to fostering bilingualism and biliteracy through a structured Spanish language immersion program. Our approach utilizes a research-based 90:10 model, ensuring that students excel academically while becoming proficient in both English and Spanish. We cater to students from grades K-5, employing effective instructional strategies from leading charter schools and top dual language programs across the country. Role of the Associate Teacher:

The Associate Teacher, also referred to as an assistant teacher, plays a crucial role in supporting the lead teacher and enhancing the learning experience within the classroom. The responsibilities associated with this position may differ based on the educational level and specific institutional policies, but typically include the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Assistance: Support the lead teacher in various classroom activities, including preparing educational materials, organizing homework, setting up equipment, and maintaining an orderly learning environment.
  • Student Oversight: Help uphold classroom discipline and ensure the safety and well-being of students by monitoring behavior and addressing any immediate issues.
  • Instructional Support: Aid in delivering instruction by working with small groups or individual students needing additional assistance, reinforcing concepts, and collecting data to inform teaching strategies.
  • Assessment and Grading: Assist in evaluating student work, including grading assignments and providing constructive feedback under the guidance of the lead teacher.
  • Support for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Collaborate with the lead teacher and other professionals to implement accommodations and strategies for students with unique learning needs.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Foster effective communication among the lead teacher, students, parents, and staff, participating in meetings and collaborative planning.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge through workshops and training sessions.
  • Substitute Teaching: Occasionally assume the lead teacher's responsibilities during their absence, ensuring continuity in instruction and classroom management.

It is essential to recognize that the specific duties of an Associate Teacher may vary based on the educational context, grade level, and the needs of the students and institution. Guidance will be provided by the lead teacher and school administration to ensure effective collaboration.

Work Hours: Teachers typically work between 50-55 hours per week, with core hours from 7:10 AM to 4:30 PM, including a lunch break and two preparation periods.
