The Unaccompanied Alien Children Program offers temporary residential assistance and various supportive services to Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) under the legal custody of the Federal Government.
In partnership with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, our initiative ensures a secure and nurturing environment for youth in both a Basic Shelter program and a Transitional Foster Care program.
We deliver therapeutic and educational services tailored to help youth succeed through a range of strength-based and targeted interventions, while also connecting them with family members or sponsors in the United States to facilitate their progress and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary supervisor for youth, ensuring their safety, personal conduct, and overall care while providing therapeutic interventions.
- Maintain security across facilities, intervening during emergencies or crisis situations as necessary.
- Oversee, counsel, and guide residents in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Supervise the movement of youth within and outside the facility, conducting periodic counts.
- Monitor youth during recreational and educational activities, conducting health and safety inspections.
Engage constructively with colleagues to develop and implement effective intervention strategies. Build strong relationships with youth, co-workers, and team members, assisting youth with personal challenges and referring issues to the group as needed.
Document significant behavioral observations and prepare reports on each youth's adjustment and progress in a timely manner. Ensure accurate log entries and reports are maintained.
Provide transportation for youth to designated locations and exercise sound judgment in all duties, adhering to departmental rules and regulations.
