POSITION SUMMARY

The Marine Equipment Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep and servicing of dredging machinery and associated facilities, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities may also encompass assisting with deck operations, procuring parts, and performing general cleaning and maintenance tasks.

This role operates under the direct oversight of the Chief Engineer.

For equipment-related issues, this position also liaises with the Technical Manager, who oversees the maintenance and repair strategies for all machinery, inventory management, procurement, and reporting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain all dredging and auxiliary equipment in optimal working condition according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Document all repair activities.
  • Manage spare parts inventory.
  • Request necessary spare parts and supplies.
  • Track and report on consumables each shift (fuel, lubricants, water, etc.).
  • Monitor all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on the dredging and support equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Engage in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations and enhance existing Company programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in heavy equipment maintenance within a marine setting.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Skills in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance.
  • Willingness to work at remote project sites for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dependability and self-motivation.

  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Effective communication with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Competencies in stress management, teamwork, and results orientation.

PREFERRED SKILLS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be capable of performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Additionally, the individual must be able to wear and properly utilize necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) when required in designated areas.

This includes hard hats, safety glasses, life vests, respirators, ear protection, steel-toed footwear, personal flotation devices (PFDs), or other protective gear as dictated by the work environment.

Furthermore, a Marine Equipment Maintenance Engineer must be able to:

  • Move between various locations on the job site, which may involve different heights and access challenges.
  • Stand, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, and sit for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive movements with arms, wrists, hands, and back.
  • Lift and carry up to 30 lbs independently; anything exceeding this weight may require assistance.
  • Exert peak force of up to 150 lbs when pushing or pulling.
  • Climb stairs or vertical ladders of 6 ft or more.
  • Work in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
  • Adapt to varying temperatures, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dust, moisture, noise, and vibration.
