Construction Machinery Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Marine Equipment Operator is tasked with the operation and upkeep of various land-based machinery, including but not limited to Track hoes, Bulldozers, Front End Loaders, Forklifts, and Telehandlers. This role involves ensuring that all maintenance documentation is accurate and that daily equipment logs are submitted to the supervising authority. The operator is expected to maintain the machinery in optimal working condition while adhering to safety protocols and promoting productive operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and maintain shore-based machinery efficiently.
- Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) during shifts.
- Participate in monthly safety drills.
- Accurately track operational time and equipment usage.
- Ensure compliance with the maintenance program for all equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Engage in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and enhance company programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience operating heavy machinery in the marine construction and dredging sectors.
- A solid understanding of equipment maintenance requirements.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to safety regulations and practices.
- Willingness to work in remote locations for extended periods.
- Reliability and self-motivation.
- Capability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Effective communication skills with peers and supervisors.
- Competencies in stress management, teamwork, and results orientation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Applicants must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. The role requires:
- Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and life vests.
- Physical mobility to navigate job sites, including climbing and moving across varying heights.
- Repetitive movements and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs independently; heavier loads may require assistance.
- Capability to exert force up to 150 lbs when necessary.
- Adaptability to changing environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, humidity, and noise.
