Your Responsibilities:


You will play a crucial role in the development and release of our artists' music.

Your involvement will encompass all business and legal dimensions of the process, from recording to marketing and beyond.

In a rapidly evolving industry, you will be challenged to leverage your existing skills while acquiring new ones.

Key Responsibilities Include:


- Negotiating and drafting a variety of agreements related to music and entertainment, including recording, licensing, production, and merchandise agreements, along with associated memos and summaries.

- Advising and supporting various departments such as A&R, marketing, and international regarding contractual and legal obligations.
- Collaborating with A&R administration on clearances, budgets, and approvals.
- Partnering with Finance to conduct deal analyses.
- Reviewing and vetting artwork, label copy, videos, and other promotional materials.
- Providing guidance on the label's content distribution and business activities.

- Investigating and addressing claims and disputes, including copyright and trademark issues, while coordinating with the corporate legal department on resolution strategies.


Candidate Profile:
You possess a deep passion and extensive knowledge of the music industry.
You hold a J.D. from a prestigious law school and are a member in good standing of a state bar (preferably New York or California).

You have a minimum of 12 years of post-bar experience, including 8-10 years in a major record label's business and legal affairs department, in-house legal department, or a law firm.

You demonstrate exceptional negotiation, drafting, organizational, and communication skills.
You have a proven ability to work independently while thriving in a team-oriented environment.

You consistently meet deadlines under pressure, effectively managing multiple assignments and prioritizing them appropriately.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong business acumen and financial understanding.

- Comprehensive knowledge of legal aspects relevant to the music industry, including copyright, trademark, and contract law.
