The Senior Vice President of Business Affairs will oversee the negotiation and management of agreements related to scripted television content. This includes, but is not limited to, contracts with writers, directors, producers, and actors for Universal International Studio, which supports various production entities.
This role will also provide assistance to the wider portfolio of Universal Studio Group and will report to the Senior Vice President of Business Affairs in the United States, while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the counterpart in the United Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate comprehensive agreements for scripted programming with talent representatives and legal counsel, covering aspects such as profit sharing, rights management, and overall agreements.
- Collaborate daily with departments including Creative, Casting, Production, Legal, and Marketing to ensure seamless operations.
- Analyze budgets and financial data pertinent to the development and production of programming.
- Prepare concise deal memos and agreements, ensuring accuracy in the terms negotiated and facilitating payment processes.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in television Business Affairs.
- Flexibility to coordinate with stakeholders across different time zones, particularly in the UK and Australia.
- Proven negotiation and drafting skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Bar admission.
- Experience in negotiating agreements for scripted programming in broadcast or cable environments.
- Understanding of international Business Affairs, especially within the UK market.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with industry agreements and codes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and accountability.
Additional Information:
This position is designated as hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. The role offers competitive company-sponsored benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and various employee perks.
Salary Range: $200K-$270K (eligible for bonuses and long-term incentives).
