Responsibilities
As a Volunteer Program Manager, your primary duties will include the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of our volunteer and bereavement initiatives, tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients and their families. You will engage with individuals across various age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, assessment, and retention of volunteers, continuously updating the training materials to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
- Provide indirect supervision to volunteers assisting with patient care, administrative tasks, and bereavement support.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, documentation, and activities to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Develop and manage a communication platform for volunteers to stay informed and engaged with hospice activities.
- Work autonomously while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and community stakeholders for guidance and support.
- Contribute to the Performance Improvement (PI) Program by helping to create and implement the PI plan, identifying goals, and participating in the evaluation of outcomes.
- Engage in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities related to hospice services, including team meetings, educational sessions, and committee participation.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, human services, or a related field is required; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Preferred: A minimum of two years in human services, with experience in volunteer coordination or supervisory roles, particularly in contexts involving death and dying.
- Must comply with state certification/registration and company policies as necessary.
- Exhibit exceptional organizational abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
- Demonstrate a high level of courtesy, cooperation, and respect when interacting with bereaved families.
- Possess excellent verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on active listening.
- Ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of personalities.
Compensation
The hourly pay rate for this position is $25.33.
