Position Overview

Role Summary:
Mount Mary University is in search of a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Assistant Director of Financial Aid & Veterans Services. This position is integral to the Financial Aid & Veterans Services department, assisting the Director in the oversight of financial aid initiatives and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and institutional guidelines. The Assistant Director will manage daily office operations, facilitate the administration of financial aid processes, and provide essential guidance to students and their families regarding available financial aid options and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Adherence: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations that govern financial aid programs. Ensure compliance with all relevant requirements and participate in necessary audits and evaluations. Provide training and support to staff regarding regulatory updates and best practices.

Operational Management: Assist in the coordination and management of all facets of financial aid operations. Guarantee the accurate and timely processing of financial aid applications, awards, and disbursements. Develop and uphold policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Student Guidance and Counseling: Offer advice to students and families on financial aid options, eligibility standards, and application procedures. Address inquiries and resolve issues related to financial aid offers, awards, and discrepancies. Conduct workshops and presentations to educate students and families on financial planning.

Financial Aid Program Development: Support the creation and implementation of financial aid programs and initiatives. Analyze data and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of financial aid offerings and suggest enhancements. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a coordinated approach to financial aid services.

Team Development and Leadership: Mentor financial aid personnel, providing guidance and opportunities for professional growth. Cultivate a positive and collaborative work atmosphere that promotes teamwork and excellence. Assist the Director in strategic planning related to financial aid operations and support the counseling team during peak periods of verification, awarding, and student advising.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.

• Prior experience as a Financial Aid Administrator is essential.

• Familiarity with PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar EX, and Slate is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively engage with prospective and current students.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

• Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and lift.

• Capability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods.

• Some repetitive motion may be required.

Work Environment:

• Availability for up to 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.

• Workload may vary; can be stressful during peak times of the year.
